Telunas Beach Resorts Getaway

I had the privilege of getting a one week break in September since it was term break for the school kids and being a teacher, our holidays follow theirs. I definitely had to do a getaway from the hustle and bustle of life in Singapore, so I scouted for a nice, tranquil beach getaway and settled on the best deal possible! If you want an affordable over-the-water attap hut accommodation, this is the place for you!

Telunas Beach Resorts

How to get there: Book a ferry from Singapore to Batam via Batamfast (if you come from anywhere else in the world, you can make your way to Sekupang ferry terminal!)

Telunas does a domestic transfer from Sekupang to their resort ONCE a day. You'll need to book the 11.10am ferry from Harbour Front to reach Sekupang at around 12.10. The Telunas staff will greet you outside the customs. Once everyone has passed through immigration customs, they will lead you to their speed sampan and off you go! It's a 1 hour 40 min ride there so they provide bottled water and an Apple per guest.

Meals at Telunas: It's buffet style, unless you happen to be the only guest there like I was! There are usually 5 dishes, fruits and desserts. The chefs are really creative with their food, so you won't ever get bored! The price of the full-board meals is not included in the accommodation. It's an additional 500k IDR per adult per night (that amounts to 50 sgd). Not the cheapest but it's mandatory.

Accommodation-style: I picked the most basic chalet and honestly, I felt that it was enough. Each room sleeps up to 4 people. 2 on the master bed and 2 on bunk beds. So it's extremely family-friendly. It was about 110 sgd per night!

Activities at Telunas:
There is a whole range of activities, ranging from free experiences to paid ones. Free ones include fishing (which I did a lot of), bonfire (they will do it for you on your last night), high deck jumping (it's 7m high and I was too scared to jump), low rope obstacle course (now that's fun!), and many other games like Tether ball, badminton, volleyball, corn hole etc. So you can just pick and choose which you prefer and let the hosts know!

The paid ones are kayaking, jungle walk to a waterfall, village tour. All these activities are included inside the price of the accommodation if you book the private island resort instead of the beach one. I chose not to go for any of them and relaxed at the beach and fished.

Personal thoughts:
I think I was really fortunate because during the week I was there, all the families were at the private island side, so I was the only one hanging out at the beach resort area, it felt more like a private island. The hosts were lovely, they even planned a candlelight dinner for us and made it into a surprise! Sadly we just finished out workout so I wasn't dressed appropriately for it.

I would highly recommend it to anyone who wishes for a short, quiet time as a family or as a couple, or even as an individual because the lovely hosts will warmly welcome you and accompany you to do all the activities you wish to do!

BBQ for the fishes we caught!

We saw a double rainbow! (Though the second is too faint)

Campfire night is always on the night before departure
